in 1902, a new school building was built at the corner of what is today Brand Boulevard and Broadway. The first principal was Mr. Llewellyn Evans and the school had of two teachers and 29 students.(Glendale Public Library)

The Eagle Rock School in its first location circa 1900. Before the Trolley arrived in 1906 the valley was farmland. The only other public building was the Union Church across Eagle Rock Road (later Colorado Boulevard) to the North. Central Avenue (later Eagle Rock Boulevard ) runs to the South. (ERVHS)

The earliest secondary school in the area was St. Hilda’s, an Episcopalian school for girls located in the Glendale Hotel. The first classes of Glendale Union High School were also held there in 1901. The first principal was Mr. Llewellyn Evans and the school had two teachers and 29 students.
